Loretta Woodford

Baby First Aid QLD owner

Loretta is a fifth-generation North Queensland local and offers an intrinsic knowledge of the distance and limitations to emergency medical access in the region. Her passion for helping people led her to commit to studying whilst working and raising a family to become a Registered Nurse in 2016.

In her words, she’s now ‘living the dream’ and is further applying her passion and understanding of the need for education and assistance through her Baby First Aid Qld social enterprise. Loretta and her husband’s regular road trips, and journeys have enabled her to network, broadly. She frequently drives 100s of kilometres to present her training sessions and speak to people about baby first aid, and the benefits of it for not only attendees but those that want to become involved.

Loretta currently has five educators working with her – in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay and Rockhampton and has plans to increase her ‘dream team’ to ten. She is in the process of recruiting educators, with her eye set to expand into the south east corner of Queensland.

WE ARE A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE

Baby First Aid QLD operates as a social enterprise driven by a clear mission — to empower Queensland parents and carers with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in emergencies. As a business for good, we exist not just to teach first aid but to make life-saving skills accessible to all, ensuring every parent and carer can act confidently when a child is sick, injured, or in an emergency situation. We are actively working to formalise this commitment within our legal framework, ensuring our social purpose remains at the heart of everything we do. The majority of our financial surplus is reinvested directly into achieving our mission.
